the inane and incredible experience called life

2600 miles later

So my summer started out as planned… awesome.  Didn’t know whether I would go straight through to Wagoner, OK on the first day of driving, and ended up doing it and staying up another hour and a half after I made it.  My mom’s place is amazing… serene and relaxing.  Spent 4 days sleeping in, drinking wine with the fam at night, playing with the dogs in the yard, and taking in the sunset.  Much needed relaxing week.

Got to NE on Thursday night and hung out with a friend.  Good times… headed to St. Louis in the morning with Nicole and her son Caden.  We had a great road trip… got to Kelly and John’s Thursday night and received a warm welcome from John’s parents and baby William, who by the way is the most precious thing I’ve ever seen.

The weekend was great and full of seeing old friends, catching up, and taking on new responsibilities.  I had to readjust to life without babies when I got home last night :).  Got to see Liz and Brent. Megan and Tim, Mr. Brad!, Linda, and I had the pleasure of meeting many new lovely and interesting people.

Drove back to Lincoln last night and dropped Nicole and Caden off in Seward… as I was entering the Lincoln city limits, I was musing about the fact that I had driven 2,600 miles and hadn’t been pulled over… and I see the lights.  Not too worried.  Got off with a warning… told him the truth: “Sir, I’ve been driving for 9 hours with a crying baby in the back.”  Done.

Got to Laura’s and was ecstatic to see her.  An old college acquaintance, Kelly, was there and we had a nice time drinking and catching up.  Met a bunch of new people, one in particular that I enjoyed talking to more than I should have … and we ended the night at Heidelberg’s drinking and celebrating Laura’s birthday.  Took my first body shot… fun times. :) Rode in the back of a pickup.. hadn’t done that since high school.

Today? Regrouping. Laundry, food, sleep, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

*I apologize for the lack of creativity and correct punctuation in my post.  Wanted to update before more things happened… so it was quick and dirty. :)
